The study is based on the data from the survey on poverty and social exclusion conducted upon representative sample of rural population in Serbia. Poverty and social exclusion are explored and analyzed through number of dimensions: financial poverty, material deprivation, access to the markets of agricultural products, access to the labour market, social services in education, health and social protection, as well as through socio-cultural participation in the community and informal social networks of rural population.

This monograph represents collection of articles in which policies related to the reduction of poverty and social exclusion are analyzed within the context of transformation of welfare states in EU and Serbia. Attention is particularly paid to Open Method of Coordination and it’s role in the redesigning contemporary social policies aimed to achieve stronger EU social dimension. Reforms of social policy in Serbia are also analyzed, as well as the attempts to adjust these reforms with joint objectives and principles in social inclusion policy in EU.

SeConS (2009) Mapping of Employment Opportunities of Internally Displaced Persons, UNDP, Belgrade.

Mapping was conducted through survey on characteristics of labour supply of internally displaced persons in three local communities, and survey on labour demand among employers in Kragujevac, Kraljevo and Vranje.

Babović, M, Vuković, O. (2008) Rural Women in the Status of Family Helpers in Farming Households: position, roles and welfare rights, UNDP, Belgrade.

The analysis of socio-economic position and welfare rights of rural women in the status of family helpers in household farming was grounded on survey conducted upon representative sample of this category of rural women. The results indicate extremely unfavorable position of these women in regard to economic activities and access to welfare rights.

Cvejić, S, Babović, M, Vuković, O. (2007) Mapping of social enterprises in Serbia, UNDP, Belgrade.

Mapping was conducted upon sample of over 8000 associations of citizens, over 2000 of cooperatives and about 70 enterprises for employment of PWDs. Results indicate that only small number of organizations can be considered as social enterprises.
